What to Expect

Is there anything scarier than writing a first post? Quite possibly the second, I think I am equally as nervous, maybe even more so.  (I promise I will stop mentioning how scary this process is for me going forward.) What do I mean by making positive change? Well, honestly I think we’ll be figuring that out together. I’m hoping to focus on the self, community, and environment.

I plan on focusing on improving ourselves or more importantly how we see ourselves. I’m pretty confident that if you are motivated by this blog then you are a pretty good person and the people around you know this as well. However, if you are imperfectly you like me, you may not realize how awesome you are. It is my goal to help us see that side of ourselves. Allowing us to appreciate all that we do, giving ourselves grace and peace.

For focusing on the community I suspect this will be where the most fun is. I can only imagine all of the fun opportunities that will be presented to volunteer, bring cheer to the community, and invite others to join us. Just this past Saturday was World Clean Up Day. (I’ll make sure we celebrate extra hard next year. However, it’s not too late. This year, with Covid 19, they decided to on focus on electronic cleanup. You can still work on deleting all your extra emails that you don’t need any more. ) I have plans to highlight different organizations for Thankfulness November. (I think I need to come up with some good alliteration for that.) I also love a good scavenger hunt and I definitely think they can be utilized to spread knowledge, positivity and fun.

The environment is where I expect to spend most of my focus. This has been the topic that has been on my mind for as long as I can remember. I believe this is the area where we can learn the most. Even with all of the focus on climate change in recent years I feel most helpless in this category. It feels like every day you wake to more bad news, the ice caps are melting, the world is on fire, there’s another record breaking drought, hurricane, flood… It just seems to never end. The proverbial they will tell you that you as a citizen have all the power but it seems like nothing we do will help anyway. People feel as if their power is taken from them. It becomes as if none of it matters, so why even try. This is where our perfectly imperfection can come in to save us. Together I hope we will learn things that we can do in our own little worlds to help, what kinds of companies are worth supporting, how our actions actually help or hurt the world around us. What small ways can we help? How can we educate others? How can we do better than we currently are to make the world a little better than when we received it? I hope you will continue to join me on our journey.
